This field has more folklore than evidence in it. Here is what we leave out, so you can ask anyone else quoting you the same questions.
An llms.txt file
Ahrefs looked at server logs from 137,000 domains and found 97 per cent of llms.txt files received no requests at all, and that the main things reading the rest were SEO audit tools. Google's own position, in June 2026, was that no AI system uses it. If you want one it is twenty minutes of work, but it is not a finding.
Schema markup as a way into AI answers
A controlled study of 1,885 pages that added structured data against 4,000 that did not found no meaningful lift on any assistant. We check your schema, because it still earns its keep in ordinary search and it keeps your business details straight, but we will not sell it to you as a lever it is not.
Bought mentions and manufactured citations
Brand mentions do correlate with being named, more strongly than backlinks do. Buying them does not, and Google says as much in plain terms. Earned coverage counts, and that is a different piece of work.
